Why Game Pass cannot have it

Game Pass carries Xbox and PC titles. Big Walk has no Xbox build at all, and its PC version is sold outright on Steam rather than included in a subscription. So there is no route by which it could appear on the service today, and nothing has been announced that would create one.

The confusion is understandable: the game is free on a subscription service right now, just not that one. It is a PlayStation Plus Monthly Game until 31 August, which needs a PS5.

That list is the developers' own. Immediately after it, their FAQ adds a sentence that settles the question better than any absence could:

Why we made a page for a game that does not exist

Because searching for it turns up pages that say otherwise. In the days around launch, several sites published Xbox release dates and Game Pass claims for a version nobody has announced. They read like ordinary coverage and they are not.

The test to apply, here or anywhere: a real platform announcement comes from House House or Panic, or from a storefront that will actually sell it to you. A date that appears only on aggregator sites, with no link back to either, is somebody guessing.

What to do if your group is split

This is the practical problem, and it has a decent answer. Big Walk needs at least two people and has full crossplay between the platforms it exists on, so an Xbox-only friend does not have to be left out. They need a different machine, not a different game. • They have a PC or Mac. Cheapest route at $19.99, and the memory requirement is the one to check.
• Someone has a PS5. It is free on PS Plus until 31 August, on any tier. How to claim it.
• Nobody has anything else. Then this one is not for your group yet, and buying it would leave you with a game you cannot start: there is no single-player mode at all.

What about cloud streaming?

This is not a way to play it on an Xbox. We checked, because it is the obvious thing to hope for on this page. NVIDIA's own supported device list covers Windows, Mac, ChromeOS and Linux, browsers, Android and iOS, handhelds like the Steam Deck and ROG Ally, and LG and Samsung TVs. Where it does help is if the Xbox owner in your group has a laptop, a phone, a tablet or a smart TV that would never run the game locally. That is a real route in, and it did not exist at launch.

One caution, which is ours rather than NVIDIA's: Streaming a game built around positional voice chat adds latency to something the puzzles depend on. NVIDIA ask for under 80ms to their nearest data centre and 15 to 45 Mbps depending on resolution. Worth knowing before you plan an evening around it.
